Family Feud to Family Fun?
Being in the same space for an extended amount of time with the same people, particularly your family, can be challenging even in the best of times. Add in a global pandemic, shelter-in-place orders, closed schools and other limitations, and this time can be overwhelming, tiring, confusing and very frustrating when communication in your residence devolves into conflict.
We want to provide tools that enable all people- adults and children- to be able to understand how to have conflict better and to understand why people respond the way they do in conflict.
Here are two examples of what we’re talking about that:
We had the opportunity to talk about different choices we have in conflict during our VCC, and ways/recommendations on how we can all interact better. There’s some resources below, some from CCR and some linked to outside pages. Let us know what’s helpful for you!
Some of the questions that we asked during our conversation were:
Which conflict choice do you identify with and why?
Which of these animals represent conflict choices made by other family members at your home?
How can your family create a plan for how to address conflict productively?
What resources would be helpful to have? (Let us know your thoughts in the comments!)
